Axis latest addition is a high performance camera offering progressive scan, Power over Ethernet (PoE) and a built-in heater to prevent condensation. The network camera has a vandal-resistant, outdoor-proof design that makes it ideal for prisons, campuses, parking garages, railway stations, and other environments where impact resistance and weatherproofing is required.

The Axis 225FD utilizes simultaneous M-JPEG and MPEG-4 video compression to optimize both video quality and bandwidth consumption. It also has PoE functionality that is compatible with the IEEE 802.3af standard reducing installation costs and consolidating the power source to a central location. The day and night camera uses an automatically removable infrared filter that enables high-quality images under all lighting conditions, including color video in high- and low-light conditions and black-and-white video in dark conditions.

The Axis 225FD camera is also available in an outdoor package bundle which includes an outdoor power supply.
